Style Note: The Isabella Oliver Cape

Posted by London Darling

Yesterday was one of those cold and breezy days in London when you really need something warm and snug to wrap up in. And what better way to wrap up than in a cape. It's the perfect alternative to a winter coat. I received this beautiful one as a Christmas Gift from one of my favourite labels Isabella Oliver.

London Fashion Week Diary: BODYAMR

The BODYAMR show was one that I was particularly looking forward to, and it was well worth the wait. The signature draping that I love still played a huge role in the collection as an abundance of luxe fabrics and beaded embellishment.

Beauty Buzz: Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare

Posted by London Darling

I recently changed my beauty regime to include the Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, the Instant Boost Skin Tonic and Skin Repair Moisturiser. It's been just six days, and already I've seen a noticeable difference in the clarity of my complexion and the texture of my skin.

London College of Beauty Therapy

It's not everyday that we can treat ourselves to luxuriously priced beauty treatments, especially nearing the end of the month when we're watching our bank balances. Thankfully, you won't need spend a fortune on facials and pedicures if you visit the London College of Beauty Therapy (LCBT). I recently discovered that inside the college, you can book yourself in for top of the range treatments at a fraction of the expected cost. The college salon is one of London's best kept secrets!

How much would you expect to pay for a top notch manicure? £45 - 65? Well at LCBT, the price for a luxury 1 hour long manicure is a mere £13.50. A pedicure is surprisingly the same price and facials start from only £20. This is so handy for the Summer months when skin should be glowing and toes need to look fabulous. Aside from the popular beauty treatments, there are massage therapies and targeted body treatments available to pamper and relax you; such as the highly sought-after Vacuum Suction treatment, which is considered the ultimate detox for the body.

Top quality treatments at ridiculously low prices? I simply couldn't keep this secret to myself, it would be selfish to do so. Book your treatments and start saving!

Oooh this is fanatastic! Totally takes the guilt out of treating yourself. Good work!!

  2. My thoughts exactly Kate!

  3. Leann Said,

5555~~ sounds really attractive as it makes you a total new look without killing our wallet. Eva, you made my desire explode... I will keep all these interesting stuff in my notebook. It will make me fully prepared for the trip to London in the future. Of course, if any...

  4. I'm going on thurs. I shall report back!

  5. Well. Would I recommend LCBT? Yes and no. I only went in for a manicure and pedicure. They were good and 4 days later no chips. Although I had them at the same time and was being contorted in all directions! Limited choice of polish (I would take my own next time) I think it is worth it if you want a cheap treat (for London!)

However, they will never be as good as a "professional." Malika at Westfield was amazing - but expensive. They also do threading which I would also recommend.

  6. Hey Anna, thanks for your feedback on LCBT! I do agree they are all 'beauticians in training'.

I also agree that Malika are fantastic for a luxury treat. Have you read my post on their threading?

I had a facial and a manicure at LCBT (thankfully not at the same time!) and it was cool, I had no complaints, especially with the saving I'd made. It's a great 'credit crunch alternative'.

Mind you, it sounds like you had a bit of a workout as well as the mani/pedi!

  7. Anonymous Said,

I had booked in for a Luxury Mani - Pedi. Would recommend the Manicure (the girl was really good) but the Pedicure was awful. The girl was not ready to work with clients. She was very nervous, shaky while handling any instruments, kept asking questions as to what to do next and did not have her stuff organised so had to keep borrowing stuff from others. She rushed through the Pedicure as she was being assessed and had to finish on time - paraffin wax was on for less than 5 mins, foot massage was non existent. Worse still, the supervisor asked the girl to ask me for my comments and write them down on the form. Cheap yes, so I guess you get what you pay for! Pedicure was most disappointing but I would go back for a manicure!
