Dear readers,

It's been a few months since I've posted, I know that many of you have been curious as to why, and I'm about to let you in on the big secret: Pretty Stylish London has a new home!

That's right, this blog has moved over to WordPress, but rest assured, the content will continue to be interesting and informative, just as you've enjoyed here.

It's been a fantastic journey creating and lovingly designing this blog, as a creative project, it's been quite successful, having been shortlist for the 2010 Weblog Awards. So a little part of me is choked up about the end of this era. Yet a big part of me is excited to embark on the new journey that lies ahead; excited to have developed a new format, where beautiful images take centre stage and posts are kept punchy and to the point. Excited to have a whole new look and feel, that in my opinion is classy, more grown up, and unique. It's still a work in progress but I love the direction that it is taking.

That said, I have to admit that I also have the jitters; it's been 18 months since I launched Pretty Stylish London during which the blog has attracted over 200 followers! At a time when the blogosphere is so saturated, that's quite an achievement. In light of this, it's nerve wracking to be starting at 0 followers again... but I'm trusting that if you've followed this blog, then you'll hopefully follow the new and improved version too!

Beauty Buzz: Sanook Spa at the Courthouse Hotel

The Sanook Spa at the Courthouse Hotel on Great Marlborough Street promised to be a haven of tranquility offering a peaceful and pampering escape from busy city life, and true to it's word, the spa did not disappoint.

With an heated in-door swimming pool, sauna and fitness room, the small but perfectly formed facilities is perfect for some much needed me-time.

I tried the Back-up Plan which consisted of a refreshing back exfoliation scrub (made in-house, especially for the treatment), a cleansing back mask and a wonderfully unwinding hot stone massage. It didn't take long for the feeling of heavy shoulders to be scrubbed and kneaded away.

There was however one blunder that I have to mention; as part of the treatment, you're required to shower off the back scrub ahead of your massage. Yet, the shower was an awkward trek out of the treatment room into the communal shower area, a journey undertaken via the fitness room: Picture the scene; a back full of sticky scrub dripping down my back as a plodded sheepishly through the fitness centre to reach the communal showers with very little privacy.

It would have been far more pleasant and convenient to have a small shower space within the treatment room to avoid such upheaval mid-treatment. That said, the space within the spa does not permit such a luxury so I must remain sympathetic. And whilst it did take me a little while to settle back into a state of relaxation, post shower, I have to admit that the hot stone massage quickly made up for it. All in all, the Back-up Plan was a lovely mini moment of pampering, which lasted a quick 45 minutes, but the sheer indulgence of the treatments left me feeling floaty and relaxed long after.

Luxe Spot: The Kensington Hotel

Just a stone throw away from Sloane Street and Duke of York Square, The Kensington Hotel offers a spacious, alluring and beautifully laid out setting to unwind and relax.

An amalgamation of four grand Victorian townhouses, the hotel underwent a twenty-million pound renovation in April 2009, and the result has been impressive. Possessing the luxury you'd expect from a property within its postcode, and the sophistication fit for its surroundings, the decorative treatment of the hotel was led by Dublin architect Denis Looby and features an eclectic mix of vintage, contemporary and global inspirations. Featuring finds from antique shops as well as furniture from B&B Italia and George Smith, the juxtaposition between period accents and contemporary pieces quite simply works.

If you take pleasure in the finer details, then you're bound to fall in love with the rooms at The Kensington Totel. There are 150 rooms in total all sharing a wonderfully calming sepia and champagne gold colour scheme. With full-length French windows the rooms are as inviting as they are practical, complete bathroom suites that offer a power shower as well as a separate bath.

The Drawing Room

During my visit, I stopped by the Drawing room for Afternoon Tea and as I settled down to a hearty array of savory and sweet treats (including custard fruit tartlets that were deliciously moreish), I observed the room: There were ladies who lunch catching up over tea and fashion-loving tourists comparing Sloane street purchases over glasses of champagne. There was a feeling of high-end, exclusivity there, almost like a private members club, but it was juxtaposed with a sense of homeliness which instantly made me feel at ease and pampered.

Later, I visited the Aubrey restaurant and bar within the hotel, which was lovely intimate space, featuring large green leather booths, textured walls and oozing 1930s glamour. Dinner was served candlelight. The menu left me spoilt for choice - I couldn't decided between the goats cheese starter and the lightly spiced crab cake! The waitress recommended the later, and I was pleasantly surprised by the flavour. As much as I adore seafood, it can a little bland - however, the crab cakes were fresh and flavoursome; zesty with a subtle spiced aftertaste.

For the main, I tucked into breast of pheasant, served with braised red cabbage and crispy potatoes; the portion was generous to say the least - I left some aside to be able to enjoy the plum tart with real vanilla ice-cream, the perfect end to what was a carnival of flavours.

The Kensington Hotel has real character and certainly charms as one of the finest urban havens within the royal Borough. Rooms start from £180 per night.

Beauty Buzz: Pretty Powerful with Bobbi Brown

Last week I attended a Bobbi Brown event for an introduction to their new Pretty Powerful campaign. It takes a look into the relationship that women have with makeup and how it makes them feel. Many of us at the event agreed that it made us feel a little more 'polished', 'put together' and more confident.

The idea behind Pretty Powerful is to show how a few simple tweaks to your daily makeup routine can help you achieve more beautiful results for added confidence in looking your best.

I had the opportunity to try out some products with Bobbi Brown's Head of Artistry Paul Herrington. He showed me how in less than 10 minutes, I could brighten my normal makeup look with Pout Rouge (£16.50) and Long-wear Gel Eyeliner (£15.00).

Normally, I shy away from wearing cream blush because my skin can be oily and within a few hours the colour melts into the skin. And I don't wear much eyeliner partly because I'm too impatient to put it on and also the fact that I never quite mastered the liquid liner look.

But I was presently surprised to discover how fool-proof it was to apply Bobbi Brown's gel eyeliner. With the nifty eyeliner brush in tow, making my eyes pop is now easy. The Pout Rouge for Lips also works a treat on my cheeks and has the staying power I need.

Prior to the event, I only had one Bobbi Brown product in my makeup kit, and that was the Shimmer Brick; a must-have especially during the Summer to pull off a dewy, golden look. However, now I'm keen to stock up on more Bobbi Brown essentials for the sheer ease and versatility of the brand.

Beauty Buzz: MAC launches new Viva Glam lipsticks for AIDS awareness

Yesterday I attended the Viva Glam launch of two new lipsticks to raise awareness of MAC Cosmetics' Aids Fund. The new campaign entitled 'From our Lips' is fronted by Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper, the new spokespersons for the fund, and the event was hosted by Sharon Osbourne.

The star studded gathering had Britain's fashion and entertainment darlings in attendance including models Agyness Deyn, Tallulah Adeyemi, designer Henry Holland and diva extraordinaire Jodie Harsh.

It was an intimate 'audience with' and both Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper had much to say about the subject of HIV and AIDs. Fans of MAC and the divas alike from all over the world emailed questions for Sharon Osborne to invite the feisty duo to address.

The discussion shared the extent to which MAC are working with pharmaceutical companies to develop a female condom, and donating the full price of the new lipsticks (£12.50) to their charity.

It is understood that 2.5 million dollars will go to locations with the highest level of aids infection such as Africa, the Caribbean and Queens, New York. More money will be distributed to other affected countries and cities as needed.

Flamboyant and as iconic as ever, it is hoped that the discussion between Gaga and Lauper on the subject of HIV and AIDS will encourages people to think and act differently about the disease. One of the biggest preconceptions is that AIDS is primarily a gay disease, but the infection rate of heterosexuals is vast enough to challenge that myth.

At one point the discussion turned to solemn was when Cyndi Lauper talked openly and somewhat emotionally about loosing a best friend to the disease in the 1980s. It was this loss that made her pay more attention to protecting herself from the infection. She said to ignore the importance of safe sex would have been a disservice to her friend who lost his life.

When asked what their message to women around the world about sex is? Lady Gaga spoke bluntly in saying 'Wrap it up with a condom. Women are now the highest demographic of the infected'. In agreement Lauper stated 'Women need to feel strong enough to say 'I practice safe sex, or nothing at all' - protect yourself and don't be a knucklehead! Viva Life, Viva Glam'.

London Fashion Week Diary: The Look Show

During Fashion Week, Look Magazine put on a spectacular fashion show at the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea. It was a star-studded event with the likes of pop princess Pixie Lott and catwalk veteran Erin O'Connor in attendance.

Fashion News: Fat Face launches Carrot Denim

Cult leisure brand Fat Face recently added a new style of denim to their collection entitled Carrot. The relaxed boyfriend fit denim is in a heavy vintage wash and sits low with a slouchy fit on the hips yet slim at the calves and ankles.

Perfect for pear-shaped girls like me who find skinny jeans less than flattering, the Carrot denim is a brilliant alternative; with angled front pockets and cinch back waistband, it's tapered to fit like skinny jeans and I love the fact that I can adjust the waist for a snug fit.

I've always had trouble finding the perfect skinnies; thanks to my wide hips and a smaller waist, the proportions never seem to work, but I think I've found the perfect match. London Fashion Week Diary: BODYAMR

The BODYAMR show was one that I was particularly looking forward to, and it was well worth the wait. The signature draping that I love still played a huge role in the collection as well as an abundance of luxe fabrics and beaded embellishment.

A predominantly monochrome collection with splashes of bold print in rich purples, Venetian red and green, made for interesting viewing. Free flowing white and cream dresses with nipped in waists had a Grecian goddess feel and black cutaway dresses were real statement pieces.

The hero pieces that stood out for me were the dress with contrasting print panelling and the structured numbers with gold chain detailing; incredibly sexy and chic. It was also interesting to see mohair box cut jackets paired with gold belted harem style pants. The gold mini with matching long-line jacket were really quite powerful.

BODYAMR's collection from start to finish was incredibly strong and engaged you in an element of fantasy. Yet all pieces were instantly wearable. This was impressive but no surprise to me as I've long been a fan of the label for this very reason.

London Fashion Week Diary: Prophetik

The challenge was on for ethical label Prophetik to bring sustainable fashion to the catwalk and excite us with something a little different. Well, the live band that played at the show was a really cool touch to what was otherwise a very simple style offering of laid back layers, grey, denim and black.

Simple isn't necessary a bad thing, it's just for me, fashion week is about presenting something that packs a punch or two, a collection that 'pops' on the catwalk and grabs my attention, and in this case, the collection failed to excite me hugely.

In fact, it was all very practical. And I completely get it - the inspiration behind the collection was the American Civil War - a time where fashion understandably underwent rationing. So simplicity is key.

On a more positive note there was plenty that I could appreciate; I liked the high waist trousers, the slim tailoring, the boleros pinned with a solitary button and the short waistcoats. I also thought the injection of blood red hues in a select number dresses and accessories helped to brighten up the catwalk. However, no piece or ensemble stood out as the next big trend.

Prophetik's collection clearly flies the flag for ethical fashion and remind us that sustainable can be stylish, I just wish there more luster. See video for a snippet of the show.

London Fashion Week Diary: David Koma AW10

It was an interesting first day for me at London Fashion Week. I attended the David Koma show, which was short to say the least but an interesting collection of vampish leather, cutaway dresses, geometric shapes and one shoulder numbers. It was a dark, warrior-esque collection where goth met power dressing and body con shapes were in full effect.

The pieces made me think that Koma's muse is a modern day Xena Warrior Princess; the gold and silver embellishment that played an important part throughout, added a distinctly military feel to the pieces. If Xena was on a hot date with Hercules in 2010, she'd definitely be wearing a dress from David Koma's latest style offering. It's so very her!

So this is a taste of style to come? I wonder which celebrities will be endorsing this new trend first? We saw Beyonce in David Koma at MTV European Music Awards and Cheryl Cole during X Factor last year. Most likely Rihanna or Lady Gaga (who is also a fan). Both artists seemingly push the boat out on being fashion-forward and this new collection would be right up their street.

The colour palette was somewhat predictable for the season; fail proof hues of stone, tan and black were obvious staple colours for the winter months. Overall, the collection wasn't my idea of amazing, but I did find the bold embellishment and his angle on geometric shapes really interesting and strong. I'll be keen to see how this look translates to the high street. For the collection in a nutshell, check out this quick video of the show made by ASOS.

Yesterday was one of those cold and breezy days in London when you really need something warm and snug to wrap up in.

Beauty Buzz: Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare

It's official: I'm in love with the Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare range.

I recently changed my beauty regime to include the Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, the Instant Boost Skin Tonic and Skin Repair Moisturiser. It's been just six days, and already I've seen a noticeable difference in the clarity of my complexion and the texture of my skin.

I know that I'm a tad late on discovering the benefits of this range; fellow beauty bloggers have been raving about it for some time now. But like so many other women, I tend to be a stickler for brands and products I've used for years - I need to be strongly convinced before I consider anything other than my favourites. So when I was invited to try out the Liz Earle Signature Facial (£85.00) it was the perfect opportunity to get to know the brand personally.

The facial is 90 minutes of pure, unadulterated indulgence, right down to the treatment bed (which was huge!) It was wonderful having my face treated with what felt like the most luxuriously rich, fragrant products. The treatment was so relaxing that I'm sure I let out a tiny snore as I dozed off for what must have been 10 minutes. (Somewhat embarrassing I know, and I'm not even a snorer!)

Victoria, the therapist was very thorough, and I was particularly impressed with her technique of extraction; it was close to being pain-free. After the treatment (which also included a shoulder massage and foot rub), my skin felt replenished, looked brighter and had a healthy glow.

I was curious to follow up with the home care products and see whether they would help to prolong the results of the facial. I gave myself one week to try a selection from the Liz Earle skincare range and consider if the buzz surrounding the iconic Hot Cloth Cleanser and others were truly deserved.

Packed with ingredients such as eucalyptus, cocoa butter and rosemary, It didn't take long to understand just why the Hot Cloth Cleanser has won numerous awards; quite frankly it does exactly what it says on the bottle - it works, and works so very well.

The cleanser removes stubborn mascara and all traces of makeup with complete ease. It smells gorgeous and my skin is super soft afterwards. Currently, I use the cleanser twice daily and follow up with the toner and moisturiser, which are equally fabulous products.

The best thing about the products is that whilst they are not strictly designed 'for problem skin' they work on getting rid of those pesky blemishes that I'd normally have to treat with Salicylic acid based lotions, and with my sensitive skin, they tend to irritate my skin in the process.

Tomorrow will be the last day of what was supposed to be a temporary beauty regime, however, I love the products so much that I will continue to use it as part of my daily skincare ritual. I really believe the hype now, in fact it's not hype at all - Liz Earle products really work, even on acne prone skin like mine. I can't wait to see the results in a month's time!

Label Love: Aruna Seth

What girl doesn't love a pair of 'bang bang' shoes? You know; the kind that make you feel like you're Queen of the world.

Londoner Aruna Seth has been designing 'It' shoes for celebrities and women with exceptional taste for several years. Her luxury embellished footwear has earned her the title of the 'pretty' shoe designer. I've been a huge fan since discovering her work at the start of 2009, so it was quite an honour to chat with Ms. Seth and discuss her love affair with shoes, her plans for 2010 and why she's inspired by the city.

When did your love affair with shoes begin?

My love for shoes began at a very early age. I was surrounded by shoes day in, day out. I remember doing work experience with my dad and it was fascinating to go into the factory and sample rooms where I'd see the drawings right through to the actual production.

When you're going through the design process who is your muse?

I have to say that I base my shoe designs on what I personally love, I have to passionately adore the shoe I'm designing.

Your ballerina shoe Rochelle was picked up by stylist to the cast of Gossip Girls - Eric Daman. How exciting was that for you?

It was very, very exciting - a big highlight for me. Actress Goldie Hawn recently wore my Cinderella shoe to the Nine premier in New York and that was an amazing feeling.

How does the city of London help inspire you?

London is a very diverse place with different cultures, I love that fact that you can experience totally different things on any given day. I think that's why a lot of designers reside in London actually. A good example of the way cultures intertwine is my background; my mother is Jamaican and my father Indian, so it's definitely the merger of all experiences, all together that influence and inspire my work.

If you had to pick one design from your collection, which would you choose as your favourite?

It would have to be the one that I wear the most - the Cerise; it's a wedge covered in Swarovski crystal. I love it because it's a real head turner; if I wear it any where in the world, no matter where I am, I'll be paid a compliment. But even though they have wow factor, they are still wearable; that's what I aim for; I want my shoes to have elegance, wow factor and remain comfortable.

2009 was a major success for you, what's next for Aruna Seth?

The first Aruna Seth boutique will be opening in Chelsea just in time for the Summer and we'll be busy with award ceremonies such as the Golden Globes and the Oscars. The shoes will be stocked by Browns and also in a US department store very soon.

Birthday Wishes: Here's to another great year!

Wow how time flies?? It was exactly a year to this day that I set about creating a blog dedicated to notes on fashion, beauty, and the buzz of my hometown London.

I remember the day vividly; I spent hours that Sunday evening making the blog look pretty and feeling excited about publishing my first post. Now more than 100 posts later, I sit here again reflecting on the journey so far, and feel compelled to say a huge thank you to all my readers and blog supporters.

It might sound cliché, but the fact of the matter is that without you stopping by, leaving me a comment or two and being the lovely people that you are, this blog wouldn't have the following it does and this blogger wouldn't have the enthusiasm that I still possess!

Stick with me for 2010, spread the word on Pretty Stylish London and look out for more exciting developments in the months ahead, I won't say too much now, but I just know that you'll love it.

In the meantime, I'd really appreciate your feedback on the blog thus far, it will help me to continually improve, post by post.

Luxe Spot: Brown's Hotel

Brown's was the first ever hotel to be opened in London. I recently had the pleasure of visiting to learn more about the legendary location and rich history.

Stepping into the grand building what immediately grabbed me was the unique blend of historical features juxtaposed with the contemporary additions from its 24-million renovation in 2005. With soft colours, chic artwork and statement furniture throughout, the hotel exudes elegance.

Founded In 1837 by hotelier James Brown and his wife Sarah, I wonder if they ever imagined the magnitude to which their small but perfectly formed townhouse hotel would expand and be rooted in the milestones of London. Impressively, the hotel has had many a pioneering personality stay; Alexander Graham Bell who made the first ever telephone call from within the hotel, the likes of Franklin Roosevelt honeymooned there, and it is believed that authors Rudyard Kipling and Agatha Christie penned bestsellers during their stays.

A hotel so rich in English history can risk being stuck in a time long past, but not so with Brown's; its services and interior meet the demands of contemporary living very well. From its award-winning Tea Room to The Donovan Bar, the atmosphere is far from dated and you won't be pushed to find gliterati sipping on cocktails whilst discussing the photography of Terence Donovan whose prints line the walls. It's a pretty trendy spot.

The bedrooms designed by director of design Ola Polizzi are pure luxury; expect 300 thread count Egyption cotton bedding and all the essential amenities for a restful experience. It's no wonder that royalty from across the globe have flocked to stay at the hotel throughout the 19th and 20th century. Fast forward to 2010 and the attraction of Brown's is still strong with 117 rooms, a acclaimed restaurant and indulgent spa.

Ah yes the spa (I do love a good beauty treatment); a hot stone massage by Brown's expert therapists will leave you positively floating. As the aches and stresses of my day were melted away with every stroke, I experienced a buzz that can only be matched by my love of chocolate. The food at the Albemarle, Brown's in-hotel restaurant, was quintessentially English with a gastronomic offering that didn't disappoint.

Executive chef Lee Stretton has devised an accomplished menu featuring Treacle-cured salmon, a savory-sweet starter that's so good it will leave you wanting another bite. The Swainson House corn-fed chicken was equally mouth-watering, and as for dessert; the Amedei Chocolate pudding with brandy ice cream was an intense burst of flavour that adequately satisfied my sweet tooth.

The hotel's Mayfair location makes it easy to reach sought-after shops and other London attractions, so for an experience that is enjoyable and enriching, Brown's deservedly earns its place as a luxe spot - in my view, it's the definition of sophistication.

Eating Out: The Real Greek, Bankside

The Real Greek restaurant situated on the South Bank is a popular venue for alfresco dinning. Unfortunately for me, it was pouring with rain when I visited this week, making it impossible to enjoy the view.

That said, the decor and atmosphere largely made up for the poor weather. The surroundings are inviting with low modern lighting and an American diner feel. Admittedly, the interior was not what I expected to see from a restaurant boasting a 'real Greek experience' but it definitely works.

The menu offers a modern take on traditional Mediterranean food - there was everything that you'd expect to see on a Greek menu; from Souvlakia to an extensive selection of Meze. If you're Greek you'd probably decide that the food isn't as good as your grandma's homemade dishes, but in terms of authenticity, it's probably not far off. With so much to choose from it's easy to get carried way with the number of dishes to order, (I certainly did) everything sounds so scrumptious, but with each dish ranging between £2.25-£5.50, you can afford to order generously.

The Greek Flatbread was served deliciously moist and warm; matched with Htipiti (Greek feta dip with roasted red peppers and onion) it was simple, fresh and very moreish. I also enjoyed a medley of seafood including Grilled Sardines and Anatolian Spiced Gambas (Prawns). The Saganaki Kefalotyri (Grilled goats cheese) on a bed of Horta Salad was divine. The dishes were all served on tiered racks, which in my opinion was a novel and clever idea; because it meant that the table didn't become overcrowded and it made serving yourself so much easier.

The staff were very attentive; they explained the menu and provided recommendations, thus helping me make an informed decision on which dishes to try. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and I'd definitely go again. The venue is about to undergo a major renovation come February, so it will be interesting to see the difference it makes, I just hope that the venue doesn't loose its charm in the process. For now, I highly recommend you head to the Real Greek and sample yourself some Saganaki Kefalotyri, it's a winner.

Beauty Buzz: The Harbour Club in Notting Hill

Last week I visited the Harbour Club and Amida Spa in Notting Hill with a friend for an afternoon of relaxation and pampering. It was a more modest venue than anticipated; a community gym of sorts come spa, and not the luxury expected. We opted for the Heavenly Spa Day for two, a special deal we bagged at a discounted price via Wahanda.

This deal entitled us to a 30 minute massage, express facial, mini pedicure and a light lunch, plus full use of the facilities. The facilities however were 'compact', so this basically meant use of the gym and the wet area, which included a tiny steam room and sauna.

After accepting the mediocre fate of our pamper afternoon, the treatments started off with a hitch; they only had one pair of slippers available that were clean. To be honest the pair of slippers they did have looked like they needed a good clean... In the end, we were issued make-shift flip-flops, the ones used to help transport freshly painted toes from the treatment room to the lounge.

But then came a positive worthy of note; the staff - so apologetic and lovely that I couldn't stay vexed for too long. And the treatments despite being super speedy were very thorough and performed to an excellent standard. The therapeutic massage did well to ease the niggles in my neck and shoulders, whilst the Elemis balancing facial was perfect for giving my skin a quick shot of hydration. The pedicure was great (the polish still looks good as new today). And the lunch was a wholesome grilled burger and chips (not exactly healthy but it was yum).

I've since learned that the package which cost £140 could have been experienced more indulgently for the same price at the Harbour Club, Chelsea - it's high-end counterpart. In reality, I suspect that the Harbour Club, Notting Hill is a place where locals pop in for essential waxing and a quick polish rather than a fully fledged spa day.

The result? I felt a little deceived; the photos of the facilities online looked lush, but I quickly understood from the staff that it was all down to fancy camera work. The phrase 'don't believe hype' comes to mind.

In a recent Style Note post I featured homemade gifts and the editor's pick went to a pretty travel brush roll designed by London based beauty blogger Muhsine of Bubblegarm.

I loved it so much that I ordered one as an early Christmas pressie to my myself, and it arrived in the post today! It came beautifully gift wrapped so it felt extra special opening it. The version featured in a previous post was pink roses, however since then, she had designed others in lilac and red. I opted for the red; it's a bolder shabby chic fabric and looks gorgeous on my dresser.

It's been a while since I've posted about a designer that has caught my attention. This month, the 'Label Love' accolade goes to Samantha Cole; an award winning designer whose latest collection features structured layering and a play on textures for a powerful look.

Samantha Cole speaks to Pretty Stylish London about her new collection, the designers that she loves and tips for wearing her clothes during the festive season.

1) What inspired your latest style offering?
The collections influences were drawn from the current social an economic climate that we are facing today. This interpretation through my work represented a darker more aggressive collection with harder edges, structured layering and inspiration drawn from modern architecture not built from indulgence but reminiscent of medieval buildings; powerful, sobering and stark.

2) Who is your muse for this collection?
My Muse or should I say Muse's would have to be the female characters that I drew inspiration from to reflect my interpretation of the power, determination and strength that a woman reveals in times of hardship which is why the collect is called "WARRIOR".

My muse is where Kate Beckinsale in "Underworld" meets Tina Turner in "Mad Max" sprinkled with Jane Fonda in "Barbarella" set against a futuristic backdrop. A woman can show strength, power and dominance an even be aggressive without loosing her femininity, the point is that it's her prerogative.

4) Which designers inspire you?
Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh, Yohji Yamamoto; all exceptional!!

5) What are your ideas for spring/summer 2010?
Since we are coming out of the recession it will reflect this through a form of cleansing, purifying, re-newing almost a re-birth...Okay, I think Ive said enough on that but i think you get the idea!

6) What advice can you give for wearing your clothes during the festive season?
Keep it simple and de-clutter. The clothes speak for themselves do not over-accessorize.

The hotel has a package entitled Weekend Chill Out, which includes overnight accommodation in a Superior room, an unlimited selection of the latest in-room films and a complimentary bottle of wine. It was the perfect combination to help me put the week's hectic schedule behind me. As I stepped into the reception area, I was greeted by a friendly concierge who showed a great deal of patience as I fumbled around irritated looking for my credit card in my oversized bag, annoyed that train delays had made me late for the body wrap appointment I had been looking forward to it for days prior.

Still, he checked me in speedily and called the spa to push my appointment back by 30 minutes so that I could settle in. He was such a sweetheart. Just when I thought it couldn't get better, he told me that I'd been upgraded to a suite. It was a such a thoughtful gesture, and at that point I knew I was finally going to enjoy the weekend ahead.

I've stayed at many hotels, some uber posh, others more understated. What I particularly liked about the Jumeirah was the balance it had between a décor that spoke of high end sophistication and the service that was refreshingly family oriented. There are 87 bedrooms at the Jumeirah Lowndes, all with amenities and finishing touches which made my stay all the more pleasant, from the coffee machine to the bowl of fresh strawberries, grapes and plums that awaited, the rooms were cosy, inviting and above all relaxing. The rooms are decorated in neutral tones, whites, creams, golden browns. Tastefully done and not too overpowering.

After a quick power shower and a short walk to the sister hotel, Jumeirah Carlton Tower, I booked into the Peak Spa and had the Tropical body wrap I was waiting for. To start my skin was exfoliated before bring wrapped in a cocoon of mango and passion fruit cream, gently massaged and moisturised. The Pevonia products used were picked especially to help brighten the skin and infused with Vitamin C for an added boost. 90 minutes later, my skin was super smooth and smelling delicious. It was more about smoothing and rejuvenating the skin, than a inch-loss session.

After retiring to my room for a few hours, I had a meal at the Mimosa Bar and Restaurant within the hotel. It's vibrant Mediterranean menu was impressive and the al fresco dining was great, given it was a mild evening for Autumn. If you're ever at the Mimosa you have to try their scallops, they are divine.

Later I had a stroll along the nearby shops, admired the beautiful shoes in Louboutins and finished with a glass of bubbly in the champagne bar at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower. It's a 6 minute walk between both hotels, and whilst the Carlton has more facilities, the Lowndes is the quieter of the two and much more intimate. My stay at the hotel set me in good stead for the weekend, it was just what the doctor ordered.

For me this hotel is the place to go for essential rnr. It's not a 'rock n' roll' hotel by any means, you'll find more business guests and families / couples than an influx of red carpet celebrities and this has its advantages. So if you're looking for somewhere cosy, wholly unpretentious but still classy, I'd recommend the Jumeirah Lowndes.

The Weekend Chill Out is valid in Friday - Sunday stays until 31st December 09 and starts from £196 + VAT per night. Based on two guests sharing. The Peak Spa facilities are available to use complimentary if you are staying at either hotel and the Tropical Escape Body Wrap costs £85.

I've recently discovered a new online boutique Runway Route, hosting a range of independent fashion labels that you'd be hard pressed to find on the high street.

You'll find clothes by Jam, Liquorish, Miss Fisher, Ruby Rocks and Rosie Fox - all UK based labels as well as international brands such as Jesse New York from Hong Kong and Neta Livne Jewellery based in Israel.

Whilst the website is isn't as slick as some of the leading online fashion stores like Brittique and Bohemia, I love that collection of clothes available feature both on-trend designs and classic styles priced affordably between high street and designer.

I have my eye on the Jewelled Neck Detail Luxe Velvet Dress by Jesse New York (£105.00), it looks ideal for the festive parties ahead and its simplicity means that it can easily be dolled up or dressed down. On Tuesday 20th October, Pretty Stylish London hosted a fundraising event entitled The Big Pink Pamper Party, in aid of Cancer Research UK and to highlight Breast Cancer Awareness month.

We managed to raise a respectable £425 for charity and it was a fantastic night of cocktails and cupcakes held at the Glam Bar, On Anon. There were manicures and brilliant prizes, not to mention a rather indulgent goody bag of treats. Fashion News: Eyola launches new collection

Fashion label Eyola has launched a new high-octane collection entitled Tarcotsira. Eyola is the brainchild of designer Aloye, a recent alumni of the prestigious Istituto Europeo di Design (IED Moda Lab). I recently received images from the new look book photographed at Beach Blanket Babylon restaurant in Notting Hill, London.

The venue with its lavish surroundings, was the ideal backdrop for Eyola's iconic designs; where fashion meets fairy tale. In this case, the new collection seemingly tells a story of modern vampish glamour and vintage charm.

Just in time for the party season, the series of power dresses featuring rich jewel hues and plenty of sparkle is truly about making a bold statement. Aloye stays true to the opulent style we've come to know and her inspirations still reference the femininity and grandeur of the Victorian era.

Since the last time I wrote about Aloye, she has been hard at work taking her luxury womenswear label to new heights and the work is clearly paying off. Eating Out: Ping Pong Dim Sum

My latest food crush is dim sum, I absolutely love it. I've always been big on Chinese cuisine, but never really bothered with the little steamed parcels. That's until I tried them during the Summer, and I've been hooked ever since. Mmm, give me a spicy chicken or black prawn filled dim sum and I'm quite content. My passion for the dumplings is so much that when I was invited to try the new menu at Ping Pong Dim Sum, I couldn't refuse!

The restaurant chain takes its inspiration from an ancient Chinese tradition. Here's the story: Hundreds of years ago, merchants on the Silk Road would stop at tea houses en route to rest their weary feet, relax and drink tea with their fellow travellers and share Dim Sum – baskets and dishes of little sweet and savoury snacks, usually steamed, baked or fried.

Ping Pong restaurants have kept all the best bits of that ancient tradition, providing a relaxed communal place to meet and relax, whilst offering a delicious range of Dim Sum, and fragrant tea. (Only now Cocktails are also on the menu to bring the tradition into the 21st Century).

Friday night, I took my mum out for a girlie catch-up and to convert her from the standard special fried rice (which she always orders) and convince her to try some steamed goodness. We visited the south bank branch sitting opposite the Royal Festival Hall and we sipped delicious Cosmopolitan cocktails whilst sampling a yummy range of dishes.

The new menu features some great additions to traditional dim sum, including a rather tasty Crispy hoi sin duck spring roll. I was also impressed with the Crab spring roll; a mixture of crab meat and prawns, doused in chili and served with Thai fish sauce. Mum was pretty smitten with her starer of Seafood puff; mini puff pastries filled with scallop, prawn and ginger.

The moment came to convince mum that steamed parcels of meat and vegetables are not only healthy but so good to eat. She looked apprehensive but once she tasted Ping Pong's Spicy chicken dumplings, she gave her approval. And so the the Dim Sum marathon commenced; Pork Shu Mal, Har gau prawns, Coriander dumplings and finally the Crunchy golden; A turmeric dumpling filled with stir friend vegetable, shallots and garlic.

The atmosphere at the restaurant, was chilled yet lively; families were out for celebrations and friends were enjoying after work bites. The interior was distinctly modern with hints of Chinese calligraphy, achieving harmony between the old and the new.

Beauty Buzz: Kérastase Rituals at Rush London

At this time of year, the changing elements can take a toll on your hair. If like me you worry about frizz and split ends, I'd recommend trying a professional deep conditioning treatment.

The whole process was uber relaxing and a week later, my hair still feels lovely. I also find that there is less breakage through combing, so it has definitely helped to strengthen the tresses.

London Restaurant Festival starts on the 8th of October and to celebrate, The May Fair hotel is offering an tempting way to start your weekend. The hotel will be hosting Eat Film; an event celebrating food on film and featuring the 1963 Albert Finney classic Tom Jones.

Showing in the exclusive private theatre that seats a cosy 201 viewers , Tom Jones is an Oscar winning adaptation of Henry Fielding's novel. You'll be able to watch the movie with all it's comedy and amazing display of cuisine, and afterwards sample the food that you saw on film in the gorgeous Crystal Room. Today marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness month and to help beat breast cancer, Pretty Stylish London is hosting The Big Pink Pamper Party in an attempt to raise £1,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Sadly, one in nine women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives. With your help, Pretty Stylish London will raise vital funds for the charity's life-saving work. Cancer Research UK is the largest single funder of breast cancer research in the UK. They are making fantastic progress, but they can't do it without our support.

Today's post is dedicated to a footwear brand that you really need to know about. It's likely that you already own a pair of Studio TMLS shoes, albeit without realising. If you've bought shoes from Top Shop, Kurt Geiger or French Connection, chances are that the shoe was supplied by the footwear brand. Now after 20 years of supplying shoes to the high street, the brand has stepped out to create an exclusively signature collection, currently sold through their website, also via Selfridges and Harrods.

The new collection for Autumn combines luxurious platform sandals, quirky modern heels and provocative ankle boots alongside the staple flats. The inspiration came from vintage classics, using tactile materials and contrasting shapes. The colour palette is right on-trend featuring rich hues of dark red, emerald green and muted tones of black and grey.

The brains behind the new collection is Veronica Pistolesi, a graduate from the University of the Arts in London and a woman who has always had a passion for super sexy high heels. She talked to Pretty Stylish London about her love footwear and the style icons behind the latest designs.

Thinking back to her childhood she reminisces on her first encounters with shoes and how her experience unknowingly shaped her career path into design. She explains:

"I remember being little and always wandering around the house with my mom towering heels, which of course were so big for my small baby-feet but they appeared to me as the most incredible things to wear. It was like the most beautiful of the transformations...seeing my skinny legs taking that sexy shape made me feel like I was entering a new world."

As for the vintage inspirations behind the new collection, Pistolesi marks London as one of the key places she draws creativity from. Moreover, it was style icon Audrey Hepburn that helped her channel elegance and sophistication into her recent work. She recollects:

"For my inspiration I mainly look at the world around me and London is a great place to observe and to take inspiration from. My style icon is Audrey Hepburn, I always loved her style and spontaneous elegance, she is the perfect balance, she is the perfect beauty."

Studio TMLS hopes the new designs will offer the wearer a journey of luxury with power and modernity. Now that's no mean feat. But with their extensive years of perfecting footwear for the high street, I suspect they know a thing or two about what women look for in their shoes and judging by the new designs, they are well on their way.

Eating Out: New Bento Boxes at The May Fair Bar

It's popular knowledge that The May Fair hotel is a regular haunt for celebrities and fashion moguls. London Fashion Week was a prime example of the calibre of guests that the hotel opens it's door to on a regular basis.

Designer Elsa Schiaparelli, model Erin O'Connor and socialite Peaches Geldof all favour the sumptuous surroundings of the bedroom suites. And now as the official hotel for Fashion Week, The May Fair is a highly sought after place to dine. The Bar has a feeling of exclusivity but is far from 'poncy', rather, it has a quiet, understated sophistication. The décor is rich and inviting; I particularly liked the fireplace which worked as a luxurious feature and the spacious leather seats.

I recently visited the bar to catch up with a friend over cocktails and finger food. We ordered the MayFair Mojito (if you're a regular reader, you'll know it's my favourite tipple!) You have to try it, it's one of the best tasting versions of the cocktail I've sipped by far.

I also tried a recent addition to the menu - Bento Boxes; a box designed to share and featuring an internationally inspired menu. The Mediterranean option contains ham, grilled sardines and marinated artichokes alongside traditional kalamta olives and Monte Enebro cheese.

There's also Bento box in honour of seafood lovers, with all the favourite catches included such as smoked Scottish salmon, Cornish crab and potted shrimps. Are you feeling hungry yet?

Not forgetting the vegetarians, the Warm Char Grilled Vegetable box is a healthy treat, served with Parmesan polenta cake and basil dressing. This is just a small selection of the type of platters available, there was also a cheeky chocolate theme box to satisfy a sweet craving.

Personally, I opted for the classic Asian dim sum box, a delightful variety of Japanese nibbles, and it included my favourites; Maki sushi rolls, shell crab and sweet chili king prawns.

The Bento Boxes vary in price, the cheapest being £12.50 and the priciest at £23.50. One box between two to three people is very filling, as the portions are quite considerable. I'm already planning my next visit to try the Chocolate sensation box, it sounds so tempting; White chocolate tart, warm chocolate fondant and dipped strawberries. I know you must be hungry now! Bento Boxes are served from 12pm.

Luxe Spot: The May Fair Hotel Spa

London Fashion Week's official hotel, The May Fair is home to one of central London's premier day spas. Last month, I visited the spa to try the Perfect Peace package; a two hour pampering session combing two of the spa's most sought after treatments - a traditional Swedish massage and prescription facial.

A drizzle of warm oil started 60 minutes of kneading that left me in such deep relaxation, I was practically asleep by the end of the treatment. The facial was specifically tailored to suit my combination skin and I was given a AHA treatment to shift dead skin and bring out a healthy glow, which it did - I was impressed with how clear my complexion was weeks after.

The surroundings are as luxurious as you'd expect from The May Fair, and the spa has some impressive features including a herbal sauna and aromatic steam room that guests can enjoy up to an hour before their treatment time.

The facilities have been designed with a spiritualistic feel; Asian inspired symbols and incense candles enabled me to forget the busy streets of London just outside, for a moment of r&r.

The Perfect Peace package costs £180 and a visit to the May Fair Spa is just the ticket for instant de-stressing.

When I received an email from BODY AMR inviting me to check out their latest collection, I knew that I'd be in for a treat. For those of you who read my ramblings on myfashionflirt.blogspot.com, you'll know that I've posted about the fashion label back in May when they had their Spring sale.

The London based fashion house recently unveiled their style offering for SS/10 at London Fashion Week and it's a beauty! BODY AMR have set out to create relaxed, comfortable and easy to wear separates of fluid skirts and silk knit T-shirts alongside the brand's seductively draped evening wear.

The collection has been inspired by the clean lines of early ready-to-wear American Fashion combining luxurious fabrics with simple, understated silhouettes and structured separates.
The palette of peaches, corals, aqua, and metallic achieve a look that's very Saint-Tropez. I'm loving it.

London Fashion Week: SS/10 Highlights | Basso & Brooke vs Mary Katrantzou

It was a battle of the prints this week as Basso & Brooke and Mary Katrantzou lit up the catwalk. Both labels treated the fashion week crowd to kaleidoscopes of colour and pop graphics. Whilst Katrantzou's inspiration came from artisanal blown glass and the aesthetics of perfumery, Basso & Brooke remained inspired by the playful and subversive.

True to form, Basso & Brooke's designs indulge us in a dynamic prism of colour. Yet their print work has evolved somewhat to a more sophisticated balance of fantasy and reality. Katrantzou has obviously found influence from Basso & Brooke in her own work, however she achieves a completely different feel. Her prints are more free-form, more organic with a reference to nature.

Graphical pop-colour prints will undoubtedly be a huge trend for Spring/Summer, and the accessories at Katrantzou showing designed by British master of art glass-blowing, Peter Layton will most likely be reworked for the high street.

London Fashion Week: SS/10 Highlights | Jeremy Scott

Pretty Stylish London Summary

The primitive look is back again, this time bigger, louder and more animated with Jeremy Scott's Flintstone inspired collection. The clothes really do speak for themselves. This look is about channeling your inner brashness; your crazy, sexy, cool - the Lady Gaga in you.

I can see these prints making their way into Top Shop and ASOS pronto and I'm particularly smitten with the denim mini short set; the jagged cut is such an interesting detail in what is otherwise a very simplistic design. Sometimes less is more after all. The colours are bang on-trend for Spring/Summer with Scott offering a fresh approach to primary hues.

What can I say Jeremy, the people of Bedrock would be proud.

As one of my favourite designers, Eun Jeong is the relative newcomer for London Fashion Week. For her latest offering, she showcased a feminine collection featuring floaty fabrics and luxurious textures. Whilst tailoring played a considerable part in the designs, a good dose of fluidity made an appearance on the catwalk too.

The look is one I like to coin 'sport luxe meets the age of innocence', and clearly pays homage to 19th century glamour yet with sporty socks and sneaker boots, Jeong firmly positions her designs in present day urbanity. Could this be the new edgy direction of ethereal chic?

Pretty Stylish London Summary

Primitive yet futuristic at the same time, Todd Lynn impressed at Fashion Week with uber sharp tailoring, hints of nomadic layering and play on textures.

Staying true to his signature ungendered shapes, Lynn create the perfect equilibrium of unstructured meets structured. He also did away with the orthodox presentation of a Men's collection and a Women's collection, rather he merged the two together for a postmodern interpretation of androgynous fashion.

I'm loving the muted tones throughout the collection and the metallic shoulder pads are pretty darn powerful.

London Fashion Week is coming to a close and whilst I never attended, I was certainly there in spirit. A bout of the common cold, left me without the 'get-up and go' zeal I normally have and instead I've had to keep abreast of the latest updates via the fellow fashion junkies on twitter and of course the official London Fashion Week website.

It's been bitter sweet experience not being in the thick of it all. Bitter because there's is truly nothing better than literally being there, and sweet because I found comfort in reading about it instead of writing about it for a change.

Thankfully my trusted circle of friends have kept me completely in the loop and it's been refreshing to consider fashion week from a range of perspectives.

That said, I simply couldn't let one of biggest style events of the capital pass by without adding my own opinion into the mix. So be sure to check out my Fashion Week highlights, it acts as my wish list of shows that I regretfully couldn't make and the backstage scenes where I'd have loved to be a fly on the wall. Internationally Stylish: Nadia Nour

Nolcha Fashion Week kicked off in New York on the 14th of September, showcasing an international selection of independent designers. It's a big industry event for emerging talent and to celebrate, I had the pleasure of interviewing Nadia Nour - a designer who has been at the forefront of the NYC green fashion movement since 2007.

For Nour, the best part of Nolcha Fashion Week is gaining exposure, mingling with industry insiders and fashion lovers of all kinds. Having showed her collection to a packed audience of the industry's mover and shakers this week, I was curious to know how she felt her designs stood out as unique and attention grabbing.

Nour's motto has always been that women should not have to sacrifice style to be ethical and she wanted her latest designs emphasizes this fully. To do this, Nour has opted for organic and eco-friendly fabrics made exclusively in the Manhattan garment district. The new collection features vibrantly dyed organic silks and cottons crafted into intricate couture-inspired silhouettes. The luxurious details of the designs juxtaposed with the strong ethical standards work well to capture the spirit of a new eco-suave that celebrates going green.

When asked about a celebrity or personality she felt would make the perfect muse for her designs, Nour picks Stacey London; New York's celebrity fashion consultant and co-host of the US version of What Not to Wear as the ideal candidate. The style icon and media darling has styled fashion photos for editorial publication Nylon as well as celebrities Kate Winslet and Liv Tyler. She knows her stuff and it's London's keen eye for detail and passion for the world of fashion that appeals.

When talk of Stacy London moved to discussion of the capital itself, I asked Nour whether she had been to the city and if so where does she shop? Not since childhood, she admits "But I love keeping an eye on the progressive fashion trends coming out of London via the internet."

And speaking of fashion trends, I wanted to know if Nour had any advice on how to look on-trend this season, Nadia suggests: "This season is all about celebrating your personal style. Accessorising and mix matching can be taken to new levels to give new life to your existing pieces."

Finally on the subject of her most coveted designers, Nour tells me that she considers Anna Sui and Chloé among her many inspirations. I can definitely see hints of Chloé sophistication and a splash of Anna Sui's vibrancy in Nour's work. But this is not to say her work is merely a spin off, definitely not, Nour's collection achieves a unique sense of style and the positive message of eco-friendly fashion.

What's On: Fashion's Night Out

The annual fashion night out is back for 2009. Come September the 10th, London's West End will be hosting an evening of fashion pleasures and a shopping extravaganza.

Fashion's Night Out is a global initiative that sees the international editions of Vogue are partnering with designers, department stores, high-street chains and boutiques. There are 12 cities participating including New York. Pairs, Milan and New Deli.

The event promises to be an unprecedented feel-good occasion, full of the theatre and allure that fashion and shopping offer. The Vogue team will be working with retailers to create a night of original in-store activities, including personal appearances, makeovers and workshops, during extended shopping hours.

There's also the opportunity to raise money for charity; a limited-edition T-shirt designed by Vogue will be for sale on the night, with 100 per cent of money raised going to Crisis, the UK charity for the homeless.

Hidden Treasure: Bermondsey Square Hotel

You could easily be mistaken for thinking that London's finest hotels are all situated central to the city. You're so wrong. I'll admit that I'm guilty of this assumption too. However, I recently discovered a gem of a hotel, south of the river.

Bermondsey Square hotel is nestled away in one of the most unlikely places; a short drive from Peckham and 15 minutes away from Elephant and Castle. It's situated in a fairly recent renovation where luxury apartments and amenities have been developed to put Bermondsey back on the map.

Bermondsey Street has been called "cool and funky" by Time Out Magazine and Vogue considers it a new destination for South London's most stylish shoppers. The hotel is central to this and has all the qualities of London's most coveted boutique establishments. Till now, I hadn't imagined that the Soho Sanctum could be rivaled in it's rock n' roll edge, but Bermondsey Square is very much on par.

The hotel has 79 rooms in total designed by David Gabriel. Four of which are loft rooms, all with spacious terraces and it's own 8 person Swedish hot tub.

The décor is truly a pleasure; warm, inviting, with a subtle seductiveness about it. The rooms are so chic, that you could easily wake up feeling like you're in an exclusive studio apartment in New York. Having said this, the view from the loft rooms are brilliant and won't leave you feeling disappointed. From the quaint corner shops of old to the architecture of the new look Bermondsey, it's a great view, looking out over London's spectacular skyline.

The loft room that I stayed in was aptly named 'Lilly'. Inside you'll experience a lush cream and white interior. Far from clinical, the soft layers of whites, creams and the hint of golden brown had a classic feel. Yet the Apple Mac TV, ipod deck and 'crystal' studded bed head achieved a contemporary finish. The space was plentiful and I loved the bathroom; the Hans Grohe drench shower did well to ease the aches and stress of the week away.

Aside from the rooms, there's Alfie's Kitchen - the hotel's bar and restaurant that serves delicious English cuisine. I opted for rib eye steak with horseradish mash and honey coated carrots. That was followed by an indulgent chocolate pudding and vanilla ice cream. Divine! The average three course meal costs £33 and it's definitely worth a visit.

There's also hotel beauty treatment rooms where you can be buffed, massage and preened. The menu features the Immaculate Manicure that Harper's Bazaar magazine voted a number one treatment for luxurious, long lasting, chip resistant results.

Bermondsey Square is a must-stay and I can confidently proclaim it as South London's leading hotel. Room rates start from £109.

This week I have the pleasure of introducing New York fashion week newcomer Shamila Jiwa, a self-taught Seattle based gemologist with a huge passion for unusual stones. Her designs are uniquely exquisite pieces of jewellery with a focus on timeless, distinctive beauty. During her London stop-off, Shamila took time to meet me for a girlie chat over cocktails and a sneak peak at her new collection.

Sitting in the Mayfair bar, Shamila oozes a contagious zeal for her work and what it represents. Born in Tanzania and of Indian heritage, Shamila Jiwa designs jewellery that reflects her extensive travels and rich ethnic heritage. Her designs cleverly combine aspects of Turkish, Indian, and Asian motifs.

Despite being so exotic and culturally rich, the jewellery remains largely versatile as wearable art. Inspiration for her pieces are found everywhere she explains. "Travel, architecture, textiles, food, nature, relationships.." - all important factors to the creative process.

Having studied Cultural Anthropology and International Affairs at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver B.C, it's interesting to how her career has moved so far from the schooling of her bachelor's degree to luxury fashion. Her passion for jewellery design stems from an early interest in fine jewellery and a deep love of art.

Since the launch of her design career in 2002, the use of unusual gemstones such as Labradorite has generated a loyal collective of discerning, international clients and I can see the attraction. Her work is impressive - the craftsmanship and exquisite detailing of each design really is on par with some of the long-standing, established jewellers. Her work is as endearing as Tiffany and as luxurious as Boodles but it also has a soulful, sexy nonchalance that is a cut above.

This is a bold statement, but one that is very fitting - In fact, I'm surprised that the likes of Vogue and Harpars Bazaar have not discovered her sooner. From her signature Blue Glimmer Boa Necklace to the Golden Decadence Earrings, her designs exude an understated elegance, fit for the red carpet.

Shamila is a hidden treasure, but this year may see the international acclaim she deserves. Her debut at Nolcha Fashion Week is fast approaching, and she has high hopes that her designs will have a larger international precedence to add to the awareness of her work state-side.

Nolcha is the award wining home for independent designers and host to a special New York and London fashion week, running alongside the main event. Nolcha Fashion Week will see Shamila's work featured in a stand-out showcase to editors, retailers, stylists and industry figures. With one week to go, I am quietly confident that Shamila is a global phenomenon waiting to happen.

Internationally Stylish: My little break to Paris

It was the last days of the British Summer. I hadn't been lucky enough to jet away to somewhere exotic and I was desperate for a change of scene. With limited funds and only a weekend to spare, I roped in a mate to book tickets for a day trip to Paris. Eurostar have a fantastic little break package that is perfect to setting off on a mini adventure without the major price. So much so that I was able to treat my niece and bring her along too! I am officially the best auntie in the world.

On Saturday the 29th of August, the 09:25 train took us to Gare du Nord and immediately I felt like a lemon, having not practiced French since my GCSEs. "Bonjour! er.. how do we get to.. zee Eiffel tower?" (Yes that's how bad my French is). Thankfully, the guys at the information point took pity and directed us to the capital's notorious landmark. They also clued us to a day metro pass; giving us access to all stations so that we could travel as freely as we liked. Tickets in hand, we boarded the metro and was on our way.

Stepping out of Champ de Mars, the weather was gorgeous! Paris was basking in sunshine and I was ready to explore. On approach to the Eiffel tower, we found ourselves amusingly surrounded by a large crowd of Michael Jackson impersonators and street dancers. Fascinated by the commotion, we were enthralled into an playoff between MJ's classic tunes to the left and French hip hop to the right. Whilst the street dancers put on a good show, the 'MJ crew' stole the limelight with people from all walks of life attempting to moonwalk, proudly wearing the trademark white glove. It hadn't dawned on me untill then that the day would have been Michael Jackson's birthday, hence the mass celebration. It made for very entertaining viewing.

Queuing for entry to the tower was a fair stretch, and this is to be expected. It reminded me of when I was a kid, waiting anxiously to board an Alton Tower ride and hoping I'd make the minimum height. I was so excited to experience the Eiffel tower and after 30 minutes of queuing we were finally on our way up. The views from the top of the tower are exquisite, truly amazing. It was quite something to see.

After viewing Paris from the skies, we took a stroll along the river bank and tucked into some delicious crepes. I opted for chocolate with a cheeky drizzle of Grand Marnier. It had been a long time since I had the pleasure and it tasted divine. Having indulged in pre-dinner sweets, we thought it fitting to do some shopping before the main meal.

Back on the metro we rode till we arrived at Chaussée d'Antin, home to one of Paris' picturesque shopping district and the department store Galeries Lafayette. There was so much to look at and so much to desire! I found myself pining after all the pretty displays of cosmetics and handbags but I managed to resist the temptation to splurge. Inside the department store, you could be mistaken for thinking it was an ornate museum or a theatre. Featuring elegant gilt and ornately decorated, it was breathtaking to look at.

After some serious window shopping and a few budgeted purchases, we were ready to dine. We sampled delicious 'Mavronmmatis' Greek Cusine at Laurier inside the department store and stopped for drinks at Bar à Bulles.

Ah, time does fly when you're having fun - we found ourselves racing against time to visit all the boutique and high street shops nearby before heading back to catch the Eurostar back to London. In the nick of time, we boarded at Gare du Nord and settled into chit chat, over a complimentary glass of rosé with a late night bite and the latest issue of Tatler (UK edition).

The trip was amazing and there was so much more that I'd have liked to do; wander the Marché des Enfants Rouges market or check out the Musée Galliera but these are destinations at the top of my list for another visit. Fashion News: Gap celebrates 40 years with new denim concept store

The denim authority that is Gap has enjoyed unprecedented levels of success since the first store opening in the summer of 1969. When San Francisco pair Doris and Don Fisher came up with the simple idea of a shop where everyone can find a great pair of jeans, I wonder if they ever imagined it would celebrate 40 years in the making?

Gap is renowned for it's iconic denim styles, and from the 10th of September to the 5th October, the brand will be launching the Gap 1969 concept store, just off Carnaby Street. It is set to feature a large collection of exclusive denim styles and artist collaborations.

Designers Pierre Hardy and Albertus Swanepoel have both created bespoke denim pieces for the store. Gap’s new season ankle boot by Pierre Hardy is re-worked in unwashed indigo, whilst Albertus Swanepoel has designed a black felt wool riding hat with denim peak.

As part of the celebrations, there will be music from breakthrough artist VV Brown on the opening night and photographer Garance Doré will also curate an exhibition of her work for the space. Showcasing street portraits and illustrations, Doré explores the idea at the heart of Gap; highlighting how the simplest outfit can create such individuality of style and remain so enduringly fascinating.

Gap will also be giving back with special charity donations; to mark Gap’s anniversary, on the opening day ONLY they will be stocking limited edition RED rinsed jeans in your favourite Gap fit for £19.69. Half the profits from all jeans sold will go towards the Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.

What's On: Take flight with the London Eye

As one of the biggest and most iconic landmarks of London, the London Eye is visited by over 3.5 million people a year, making it the UK's most popular paid for visitor attraction.

I'd taken flight on the Eye three years ago and in honesty I never fully appreciated the experience due to a bout of the common cold and an unforgivable migraine. And so I set out to ride the London Eye again and this time, the experience was far more exhilarating. I took along my niece; a very 'clued-up' 14 year old from Buckinghamshire and possibly the future editor of Tatler. We set about a late Summer evening of sightseeting.

After enjoying a gorgeous seafood chow mein from Neds Noodle Bar on Belvedere road nearby, we started with a London Eye river cruise: 40 minutes of circular sightseeing and live commentary. Whilst the winds caused the boat to be a little unstable, it made for interesting viewing and provided a difference perspective to London than you would see on a traditional tour bus. As you might expect, the river cruise isn't for everyone; I was quite happily taking in the views, but my niece discovered she was prone to motion sickness.

Next we checked out the New London Eye 4D experience; a perfect prelude to a flight with 3D film and spectacular in-theatre effects including wind, bubbles and mist to add a breathtaking fourth dimension.

The real treat however was viewing London by night - some 135 metres in the air. My niece did well to point out other major landmarks, worthy of note. I found it quite amusing being informed where to look for Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, as if I were the tourist and she the tour guide. It was sweet really. That said she certainly made the actual tourists on the flight take note and it was great seeing the grandeur of London through a fresh pair of eyes.

As I gazed out of the capsule onto the vast array of twinkling lights and the serenity of the Thames river below, I began to re-appreciate London's beauty, it's architecture and character - all of which is so easily forgotten when London is your home.

If you haven't already taken flight on the London Eye, I'd highly recommend you do. And If you can stomach a ride on the river, I'd suggest this as a great addition to the experience. Style Note: Winter Luxe at River Island

The high street's interpretation of seasonal trends is always interesting to see and I'm particularly impressed with River Island's approach to AW09. Featuring jewel hues, graphic prints and directional shapes, the store's latest collection has a distinctly luxurious feel.

Like a wonderland of Winter luxe, the collection combines opulent textures and richly coloured fabrics with modern tailoring and directional shapes. Paying homage to Britsh and International designers, the new pieces take on the prowess of Balmain, the feminine grandeur of Graeme Black and the luxury layers of Jaeger London.

My choice of stand-out pieces begins with this dazzling Amber satin dress in the intense purple hue. It's shape is voluptuous and powerful, for a look that will undoubtedly make an impact. The Erin taffeta skirt and Jupiter Shell top is also a head turning match, whist the faux faur jacket worn with the fringe leather skirt and acid wash hoodie is beautifully eclectic and so nomadesque. However, my favourite piece has to be the Jackson Dress with statement shoulders, graphic print and body con paneling. It's definitely on my style radar. To see the new collection click here.

The latest exhibition at the Getty Images Gallery presents a stirring selection of rare images capturing the cultural, sociopolitical history of London. Photographs were taken from Getty's Hulton Archive and covers 90 years of London style, from 1900 to 1990.

I love how the images capture the changing scene through the twentieth century. Celebrities featured include Elton John, the late Eartha Kit and the Sex Pistols. It's a compelling showcase and worth the visit. Exhibition ends September 12th.

Beauty Buzz: Microneedle Therapy

After trying the Smooth Shapes treatment for cellulite last month, I was out to discover another beauty fix and curious to know if there was a treatment out there to combat stretch marks. The online beauty community Wahanda introduced me to Microneedle Therapy now available at Destination Skin.

Now to say that I'm not a fan of needles is putting it likely, but I wasn't about to let nerves get the better of me. Microneedle Therapy is a natural rejuvenation method; non-surgical treatment that with regular use can be beneficial to various skin conditions such as aging (wrinkles, stretching), scarring (acne, surgical), and hyperpigmentation. Industry experts claim it to be more effective than ablative treatments like laser resurfacing, dermabrasion, and chemical peels.

Key to the therapy is the Microneedle roller, a type of medical tool with anything from 200 and more needles that as you might have guessed, are rolled and gently pressed onto the skin to create tiny pricks as it moves. Essentially, it injures the skin's surface, stimulating collagen and elastin production to thicken the skin. This process works to help smooth scaring.

It sounded incredibly interesting, if not a little too good to be true. But what particularly appealed to me was the fact that the recovery time for this treatment was super fast - more so that than dermabrasion and laser treatments that can take more time than the 1-2 days Microneedle therapy requires. And if it can reduce the likes of stretch marks and scarring (my two pet beauty hates) I was going to give it a try.

Initially, the feeling of the needles on my skin took some time to get used to. It was a sensation I wasn't used to and to be honest, I didn't like it very much but after a while, the prickling sensation became less noticeable. As the roller was moved up and long my thighs and hips, I could feel my skin becoming warm. The therapist informed me that the warming sensation was a good sign, it meant that the treatment was working.

Lasting 40 minutes, the treatment left no discomfort afterwards, which was great. I was able to wear my jeans out, just as I had arrived, with no worry of irritation.

The next day, my skin felt a little itchy where tiny scratches had appeared on the surface that the roller had been used. However, this was part of the healing process, and after a couple of days my skin had calmed. Three weeks on, the stretch marks that were targeted certainly feel smoother and less prominent, even if they are still visible.

My verdict is that Microneedle therapy isn't a quick fix and it doesn't bear instant results, however, it's far kinder to the skin than laser therapy and the more intense dermabrasion treatments available. It can be used anywhere on the body. All in all, it's a safer alternative for those who have very sensitive skin and for that reason I'd much prefer a course of this treatment than any other option. Prices start from £150. A course of three treatments will cost £360.
